Iowa DNR explains controlling pond plant growth

Experts say now is the time to start thinking about your pond's health.

Darcy Cashatt, with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, explains that there are many ways to control your ponds plant growth, but you first need to know what uses you're planning on getting out of your pond.

Cashatt says that mechanical and chemical methods are the best option for immediate control, and all methods work better when they're started earlier in the season before plants reach their peak growth.
